Educational FacilitiesThe classrooms, administrative and faculty offices, student and faculty lounges and individual lockers are located in the school facility. The clinical facilities of Ellis Hospital provide opportunities for varied experiences in medical, surgical, pediatric, geriatric and psychiatric nursing as well as critical care units equipped with the latest technological innovations. These facilities offer the student an array of planned clinical experiences within the hospital. Students gain knowledge of patient care systems throughout their clinical experiences. Additional local community facilities are utilized for specific obstetrical, pediatric, psychiatric, rehabilitation and community health nursing clinical opportunities. The Health Sciences Library at Ellis Hospital, under the direction of a medical librarian, offers current, up-to-date collections of 2,000 professional and technical books and subscriptions to approximately 240 journals. The library also offers over 1,800 educational audio-visual programs on nursing, clinical and administrative topics. The library is a member of the Capital District Library Council. This consortium of libraries provides for the free exchange of learning materials from members. |
Our Mission: The mission of the Ellis Hospital School of Nursing is to prepare the Associate degree graduate for Registered Professional Nurse licensure. The graduate will function as a beginning nurse who provides safe, competent, compassionate nursing care to maximize the health and well being of all people served.
