Admissions OverviewApplications are accepted from qualified men and women who are interested in a nursing career and who meet the requirements outlined below. Equal opportunity is offered to all applicants regardless of age, sex, marital status, religious beliefs, disability, race, color, national or ethnic origin, or political affiliation. Applications will not be considered until prerequisites are completed or unless a reasonable plan for completion is submitted with the application. All prerequisites must be completed prior to the Fall semester for either Fall or Spring enrollment. Admission ProcedureAdmission is based on a review of the overall application as an indication of potential for success in nursing and in the school's academic program. Students enter with a variety of educational and life experiences; therefore all facets of their backgrounds are considered in making admission decisions. AcceptanceAs soon as all components of the application, except for the health record, are completed, the applicant is evaluated by the Admissions and Evaluations Committee. Each applicant is considered on an individual basis, and the applicant is notified promptly of the Committee's decision.A reservation fee is required to hold a place in the class. Foreign StudentsThe Ellis Hospital School of Nursing is not authorized by the United States Immigration Service to admit international students. All applicants to the School of Nursing must be United States Citizens or have Permanent Resident Alien status in the United States. |
Our Mission: The mission of the Ellis Hospital School of Nursing is to prepare the Associate degree graduate for Registered Professional Nurse licensure. The graduate will function as a beginning nurse who provides safe, competent, compassionate nursing care to maximize the health and well being of all people served.
